Where Chattanooga companies cluster

County	All locations	Finance	Health care	Prof. services
Hamilton, TN	9,883	653	1,232	937
Catoosa, GA	1,044	57	125	68

Where the market sits: Hamilton County and Catoosa County hold 86.6% of the metro’s business locations across 6 counties. Hamilton County alone has 653 finance and 1,232 health care locations. The metro crosses state lines (TN, GA), so buyers here answer to more than one state’s rules.

Two Tennessee laws your Chattanooga buyers answer to

Tennessee breach notification law (Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 47-18-2105 to -2107)

After a breach, companies must notify affected Tennessee residents within 45 days of discovering it. Private companies have no attorney general notice requirement.

Tennessee Information Protection Act (Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 47-18-3201 to -3213)

A comprehensive consumer privacy law, in effect since July 1, 2025. It applies to companies that meet its size or data-volume thresholds.

Why it matters for outreach: companies that meet the thresholds of the Tennessee Information Protection Act have obligations a general security pitch never mentions. Asking whether they apply is a specific, local way to start.

Who else is calling Chattanooga buyers

The metro has 122 computer systems design and related firms, 50 of them classified as computer systems design. Chattanooga’s IT managers hear from many of them, so a generic first message gives them no reason to reply.

What wins: local detail. Mention Hamilton County or a Chattanooga sector so the buyer can tell the message is about them.
