Two Texas laws your Austin buyers answer to

Identity Theft Enforcement and Protection Act (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code §§ 521.002, 521.053, 521.151-152)

After a breach, companies must notify affected Texas residents within 60 days of discovering it. Breaches affecting at least 250 residents must also be reported to the Attorney General.

Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act (CUBI) (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code § 503.001)

Collecting fingerprints, face scans or other biometric identifiers is regulated. The attorney general enforces it.

Why it matters for outreach: time clocks, door access and visitor systems that scan fingerprints or faces fall under the Capture or Use of Biometric Identifier Act (CUBI). “How do you handle biometric data today?” gives you a Texas-specific opener.

Who else is calling Austin buyers

The metro has 2,762 computer systems design and related firms, 1,095 of them classified as computer systems design. They are calling the same IT managers you are.

What wins: a sector-specific opener. A health care buyer should hear a problem from their own work in the first sentence.
